WELCOME!
We are a diverse group of people planning to build Sycamore Village, a cohousing neighborhood of 35 households in Orangevale, California, in the eastern suburbs of Sacramento County. Our vision is to create an inclusive, earth-friendly community that fosters supportive relationships based on respect, cooperation, and fun. Read the "Introducing Sycamore Village" flyer.
WHAT IS COHOUSING? Cohousing combines private homes with generous shared facilities, thus creating the feeling of a small village where neighbors know and care about each other. Future residents actively participate in the design and management of their own neighborhood. The Common House is a hub of social activity for the cohousing residents and is also available as a community center for neighborhood gatherings.
THE SITE: In June 2006, we signed a contract to purchase 3.5 acres of beautiful rolling land in Orangevale. The site is within walking distance of schools, a bus stop, a grocery store, a fitness center, a restaurant, and other businesses on Greenback Lane.
TO JOIN OUR GROUP: We welcome new members who share our vision and want to participate in creating our community. We invite you to attend our next information meeting and dinner, usually on the second Sunday from 6 to 7:30 pm. Call (916) 967-2472 for location details. If you are interested in joining our group, please complete the Preference Survey. Choose the Word version or PDF version of the Survey. You need Adobe Reader, available by free download.
